The Dune House is the perfect holiday home according to the Jarmund / Vigsnæs Architects Studio and isn’t called the Dune House for no reason, is located on the beach and dozing between soft and enveloping sand dunes. The aim of this arhitecture was: rethinking it outside the city and propose a new way of tourism.
THE VIEW. The house is located in Suffolk, just south of the village of Thorpeness. This location was chosen because it was designed as a house with large windows from which you could enjoy the landscape. The roof, which is the strongest part of the project, is coated with a metal alloy slightly orange that reflects the sky and sea changes in colour.
“We wanted to create something that would fit well into the context, but also be different.” said the architect Hankon Vigsnaes. “We started with the roof, typically English, and rework it until we got it more complex and contemporary. On one hand, the building wants to look like those typical along the coast, on the other we wanted to stand out strongly.” Read more ›
